Soil Moisture Measuring Instruments
Measuring of those pollutants at the surface or at depth.
Soil moisture measuring instruments. Our grain moisture content is an important parameter which is sought by both the producers and the buyers. A wicking soil moisture reader is an older style of device but popular in indoor houseplants. See our new virtual root kit in the new products tab at top of the page. The moisture is wicked upward to fabric which changes color if the soil is moist.
The less color change is visible the dryer the soil is. Tensiometers measure the matric potential of soil moisture in situ field with the use of a porous clay cup attached to a tube filled with water. The water in the cup and tube is attached to a vacuum gauge or a mercury manometer fig. Since the direct gravimetric measurement of free soil moisture requires removing drying and weighing of a sample soil moisture sensors measure the volumetric water content indirectly by using some other property of the soil such as electrical resistance dielectric constant or interaction with neutrons as a proxy for the moisture content.
The instrument is pre programmed to measure the water content of different types of grains. Check out our new handitrase tdr soil moisture meter in the new products section. A plant hydrometer like this absorbs moisture from the portion in the soil. The pce instruments soil moisture meter with a 250 millimetre long probe has been specifically designed to quickly easily and accurately measure the moisture content of soils.
